Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

By signing up for or using Metric Tower ("the Service") you agree to these terms on behalf of yourself and, if you're signing up on behalf of a company, team, or organisation, organisation. If you don't have authority to bind the organisation, don't proceed.

2. Acceptable use

You may run the Service's scanners only against systems you own or are explicitly authorised to test. Running scans against third-party systems without authorisation is a violation of these terms and, in most jurisdictions, of applicable law (e.g. the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act in the US, the Computer Misuse Act in the UK). We cooperate with law enforcement on confirmed reports.

You must not:

• Use the Service to attack, overload, or degrade any system you're not authorised to test.
• Use the Service to store, transmit, or process material that is illegal in your jurisdiction.
• Attempt to reverse engineer, resell, or whitelabel the Service without a written agreement.
• Circumvent rate limits, quota, or billing controls.
• Use the free public tools to probe targets you don't own.

3. Your content

You own the findings, reports, and data produced from your scans. We store and process it solely to provide the Service. We don't sell your data, and we don't train machine-learning models on it.

4. Billing

Paid plans are billed monthly in advance via Stripe. Credits purchased à-la-carte never expire. Plan credits reset on your billing anniversary. Refunds within 14 days of a new subscription, pro-rata on the unused portion.

5. Service availability

We aim for 99.9% uptime but don't formally commit to an SLA outside of Business/Enterprise contracts. See the status page for real-time availability.

6. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, our aggregate liability for any claim arising from the Service is capped at the amount you paid in the 12 months preceding the claim. We're not liable for indirect, consequential, or punitive damages.

7. Termination

You can cancel at any time from your billing page. We can terminate accounts that breach these terms, with reasonable notice except in cases of flagrant abuse (unauthorised scanning, spam, illegal content).

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where Metric Tower is incorporated. Disputes are handled in the courts of that jurisdiction.

9. Changes

We'll notify you of material changes via email or in-product banner before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
